Research shows that an effective teacher can significantly boost student learning, and several highly-effective teachers in a row can actually eliminate the persistent gap in academic achievement that separates low-income and minority students from White students.

And the results are predictable, both across the country and here in Arizona.  Only 27% of Arizona 8th graders demonstrate proficiency in reading, and Arizona ranks 43rd in the nation for the proportion of high school graduates who go directly to college. But we know that all Arizona students can achieve at high levels if there is an effective teacher in every classroom.
